About This Webinar
How can researchers build careers that serve both academic excellence and community needs?
Prof. Atif Ahmad will share his journey of creating a "research system", where industry engagement, rigorous research, and transformative teaching amplify each other. As a junior academic, he made strategic choices to prioritize community concerns over conventional performance targets—an approach that unexpectedly led to prestigious publications, funding, and recognition.
Today, this research system strengthens Malaysia's critical banking, telecommunications and energy infrastructure through strategic partnerships with Australian Government agencies and Malaysia's National Cyber Security Agency. Novel research methodologies for studying industry practices are transferred to select Malaysian universities, while a University of Melbourne spin-off company ensures sustainable, long-term cyber capability development across the region.
For researchers from PhD to Professor level, JOIN US on building impactful research systems and leveraging identity as a bridge-builder to create scholarship that serves both knowledge advancement and broader community needs.
